Araldite Kenkre FC, simply known as Kenkre FC (abbreviated as AKFC) is a professional football club based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Their home ground is the Cooperage Ground in Mumbai and they train at the Goans Sports Ground which is 5 minutes away from Cooperage Ground. Kenkre FC play in the I-League 2nd Division. They are sponsored by Araldite.

The club is one of the popular football clubs in Mumbai and is known for nurturing young players into skillful and mature players. Kenkre FC have made several players who are now playing in the I-League like Abhishek Yadav and Praneel Mendon to name a few.

History

The Club was founded in 2000 as Kenkre FC under the patronage of former footballer and football coach Sir Adib Kenkre and the CEO of the club Joshua Lewis. The Club secured admission into I-League 2nd Division in 2011.

The team play its I-League 2nd Division home matches at the Cooperage Ground in Mumbai, but due to the bad state of the stadium, as of 2010, they had to play all of their NFL games away from Mumbai.

Kenkre FC were crowned champions of the Maha League 2010 for the first time in the club's history after defeating Bengal Mumbai FC 3-0 thanks to goals from Nigerian striker Mathew Odje, Francisco Salin and Charanjeet Singh. After achieving this result, Kenkre FC were granted admission into the second-tier of the I-League called the I-League 2nd Division.

Kenkre FC made its debut on this national stage by playing in Group B of the I-League 2nd Division in Jamshedpur, between April 4 - April 17, 2011. The club marked its debut by finishing a creditable third on goal difference. The group of seven teams was topped by Mohammedan Sporting Club, Kolkata and Ar-Hima, Meghalaya.

The head coach of the team is UEFA qualified coach Floyd Pinto. The club also pay major importance to their youth teams which include the Under-19s, Under-18s, Under 17s and Under 15s in order to nurture the young talent in the country and the top youth talents train with them.

Captain

The long-serving captain of Kenkre FC is Madhusudan Phadale, who joined the club since its formation and has been loyal to the Mumbai club ever since. He can play anywhere in defence. Some media sources label Madhusudan as Kenkre FC's very own version of Gary Neville.

Youth teams

As mentioned, Kenkre FC give prime importance to youth development and thus put in a lot of effort to achieve success in the youth teams. They have employed a number of Asian Football Confederation qualified coaches to train their youngsters. Chairman Sir Adib Kenkre coaches the Under-15s, former Churchill Brothers goalkeeper Raghuvir Khanolkar takes care of the Under-17s, the Under-18s are handled by veteran Manoj Nair and the Under-19s are coached by highly experienced Augusto D'Silva from Kerala.

German Experience

Since 2010, Kenkre FC have formed a very good link with legendary German football coach Horst Wein, who has given his coaching experience to many top teams in England, Italy, Spain etc.
